Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important official said the vandalism made him without words and had to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
